Bolton Fair 2010

Did you happen to be at the Bolton Fair in Lancaster this year?  This fair is a New England favorite and celebrated it's 128th year!  Quite an accomplishment, to say the least.

The D'Ambrosio Eye Care banner flew overhead that weekend and here is an aerial shot of the fairgrounds taken from the plane.

Book Sales are BOOMING!

We've raised $254 to date in book sales for the Smile Train!  Patients and employees have generously donated gently-used books in an effort to help us raise funds.

We have books for all ages and a selection of both hard and soft cover books.

If you'd like to donate books, please call one of our offices, we'll be happy to answer any questions you may have.

Thanks and happy reading!

American Cancer Society Relay for Life Gardner

TEAM D'AMBROSIO has been a long-time supporter of the American Cancer Society and the Relay for Life, Greater Gardner. 2010 was no exception and our donations broke our previous record and exceeded our goal by over 22%!

Pictured at right are many of the walkers for our TEAM, but there were many, many folks behind the scene that contributed to our success - and that includes our patients!

2010 goal was $5,000 -- we actually raised
$6,139
This was accomplished through donations to our book sales, bakery sales, dress down days, a yard sale, fundraisers at local Friendly's Restaurants and employee and patient donations!

Thank you all for a job well done!

Job Shadowing at D'Ambrosio Eye Care

D'Ambrosio Eye Care frequently has individuals "job shadowing" our doctors and technicians.  We have formed partnerships with some of the local schools and hospitals to allow students to observe our staff members throughout their day.

If you're here for an appointment, you may be asked for your permission to have the student in the room during your examination or procedure.

Some are here for only a few hours, others for a week or more depending on their school requirements and their field of interest.

It's a great way for students,  from high school to graduate school, to oberve eye care in a medical setting... who knows, one day they may be your doctor, optician, or technician!

Currently shadowing with us is a graduate of UMass who is heading to Saba University shortly to begin his medical studies .  We wish him much success!

Bus service to our doorstep!

MART - Montachusett Area Regional Transit - Bus #8 brings you right to our Lancaster office. Now, how easy is that!

Maui Jim Sunglasses

Did you know we carry a varied selection of Maui Jim Sunglasses? Often, patients will ask about the care of their sunglasses.

Maui Jim recommends:

Rinse the lenses in warm, running water. Use a mild, liquid dish orbath soap to wash each lens surface. Rinse and dry using a clean, soft absorbant cloth. Do not use paper-based products to clean your lenses. Do not use abrasive cleaners or soaps or detergents which may leave a deposit on the lens. Also, avoid cleaning your lenses with certain tissues that have lotion or silicone added, as both will leave a film on the lenses.

Photos from Gardner Summer Festival

Hi,

Here are a few pictures of D'Ambrosio Eye Care employees from the 71st Annual Gardner Summer Festival & Sidewalk Sale. It was a windy couple of days, but sunny. Gave us a great opportunity to see and chat with some patients and make new acquaintences as well.

Some of those acquaintences are shown here:

Fundraising: Smile Train

For anyone that has been into any of our three offices, you know D'Ambrosio Eye Care and its employees are committed to supporting those in need with our fundraising events and activities.

Currently, our efforts are for the Smile Train. This charity has performed amazing surgical procedures to assist children around the world born with cleft lips and cleft palates. Through donations, the Smile Train has changed the lives of countless children and given them a new confidence and look on life. Each procedure costs only $250! Our goal is to raise $750 to pay for three children to get their "smiles".

These children live in an environment where most are ostracized for their looks and inability to speak properly due to their cleft lips/palates. These surgerical procedures take 45 minutes and afterward the children are accepted into a society that has shunned them previously.

Check out these "before" and "after" pictures of Angelica, age 2, with her beautiful smile.

The Smile Train trains surgeons in these countries to perform the surgeries, amounting to over 100,000 a year with a small staff in over 78 of the world's poorest countries.

Please consider a donation or perhaps purchase some gently used books at our offices, with 100% of proceeds going to the Smile Train. We thank you and the children helped by your generosity are truly thankful.
