Sreenivasa Basavanthappa, M.D. is a Retina Specialist at D'Ambrosio Eye Care with offices in Lancaster, Acton, Athol and Gardner. Dr. Basa earned his Medical Degree at Bangalore Medical College and completed an Internship in General Surgery at the University of Arizona in Tucson followed by a Residency in Ophthalmology and a Fellowship in Medical Retina at the University of Arizona. In addition Dr. Basa completed a Post Doctoral Fellowship at the Schepens Eye Research Institute-Harvard Medical School in Boston.
At D’Ambrosio Eye Care, Dr. Basa cares for patients with all types of diseases of the retina and is a specialist in the diagnosis and treatment of diabetic eye problems such as diabetic retinopathy, age related macular degeneration (AMD), retinal vascular disease such as retinal artery and vein occlusions resulting from systemic circulation problems, other macular diseases and types of retina problems.
Dr. Basa has been active in teaching other physicians and has been recognized with the “Deans List for Excellence in Teaching Award” by the College of Medicine at the University of Arizona as well as being the recipient of the “Gold Star Award” from the Tucson Veterans Affairs Hospital and the Retina Research Foundation-Joseph M. and Eula C. Lawrence Award.
